Het Arbeiderspaleis

"Nothing is beautiful enough for the worker who has had to live without beauty for so long."

"Nothing is beautiful enough for the worker who has had to live without beauty for so long."

The name 'Het Arbeiderspaleis' is a nod to the neighboring residential building 'Het Schip' designed by architect Michel de Klerk (1884-1923), commonly known as the 'workers' palace.' De Klerk designed exceptionally luxurious homes for Amsterdam's (harbor) workers, who previously lived in deplorable (living) conditions.

The motto of De Klerk was: "Nothing is beautiful enough for the worker who has had to live without beauty for so long." Isn't that beautiful? And we translate this motto to the 21st century.

At our palace, the worker can co-work, meet, and relax in beauty and luxury. Everything is designed for you to work like a king, because nothing is beautiful enough!

About us

We are Het Arbeiderspaleis! A co-workspace with great coffee or a coffeehouse with comfortable workspaces.? You tell me! We want to do it just a bit differently.

Our motto: Creating a pleasant atmosphere where you feel at home and can work comfortably without any fuss.
Working with pleasure is our credo, where your success is our mission.

"Pleasure in work leads to perfection in work."

Co-workers Boss

Hi, my name is Maikel. I'm a proud father of two young boys. Alongside them, my wife Iteke, and our dog Curly, I happily live in Amsterdam East. Apart from Het Arbeiderspaleis, I also own a coffee house Pipes and Beans in Hoofddorppleinbuurt. I know firsthand how hectic life can be and how challenging it is to find a great workspace. While managing Pipes and Beans, I quickly realized that working with a laptop in a coffee house can be quite a challenge. You don't always feel welcome, there's often a lot of noise, poor Wi-Fi, and limited space. As a coffee place owner, it's a constant struggle to maintain a pleasant atmosphere, especially with many people working on their laptops. I frequently heard from customers that they don't want to feel like they're in an 'office' while enjoying their cup of coffee.

I too was looking for a great co-workspace and noticed that there wasn't much available between coffee place and large commercial coworking spaces.

So, the idea was born out of necessity: The co-workers Palace, an affordable, inviting workspace. Furnished with all conveniences, and without any fuss. Working can be enjoyable again!

Palace Manager

I'm Febe, others call me the sunshine of The Palace! I'm an experienced barista with a big heart for people and animals. I'm a true Amsterdammer and completed my education at the Jean School, allowing my creativity to know no bounds.

It brings me a lot of joy to make everyone happy. I'm always busy and can't sit still. I enjoy doing all sorts of things, from baking cakes to organizing events. And all of that with a big smile on my face!

Willem

Palace Chef

I have an immense love for cooking, the nurturing care of an aunt, and a large social heart. I cook at The Palace for those who enjoy working comfortably, provide meals to take home, and also host a weekly community dining event, 'Aunt's Table.' This is where everything comes together: my business, Aunt's Kitchen, is a social enterprise aimed at bringing people together at a neighborhood level. At The Palace and Aunt's Kitchen, you're warmly welcomed for your own celebration. Drop by for a delicious lunch or a customized dinner at this unique location in the Spaarndammerbuurt.

Every day, I joyfully cycle to The Palace, a delightful place to spend the day. Hope to see you there!

Kind regards

These lovely feline ladies are the queens of creating that sense of home, so maybe a little fuss after all. Grabbing coffee at the bar and then, of course, saying hello to the ladies; it brings immediate relaxation. It's also great that Sjaan and Neel (mother and daughter) keep other troublemakers out. Both cats come from the Cat Boat, a neighborhood nearby.

Hoi, mijn naam is Maikel.
